Step 2: Business Sign-up - Terms of Service
All members are required to agree to the following terms. The Internet was founded on the principle of the free association of like-minded individuals through technology. The following is simply a test of our like-mindness. If you don't agree, go off and find a banner network that suits you, or start your own. I did.
1. I have read and I agree with the CCBN statement of Faith.
2. I agree my site evidences Christian values.
3. I agree that the site listed is made by a Canadian.
4. I agree that the site listed is Christian, and contains items of interest to Christians.
5. I agree that this site is listed in the correct category: business, organization, or personal.
6. I agree to abide by these Terms of Service. Disputes will be resolved by CCBN, and are without recourse.
7. If I have been found in violation of any of these Terms of Service, I realize that I am subject to having my account revoked without recourse. I won't whine nor complain nor send flame-mail.
8. I understand that sites with controversial content likely will not be approved, as we are trying to create a family-friendly environ. CCBN is the sole decider of what constitutes controversial. Controversial content may include, but is not limited to: hate-messages, nudity, profanity, obscene behavior or topic, demonic, occult, satanic, new age, anti-Christian values or beliefs; or cults. That's what all the other Banner Exchanges/Networks are for. So if I have that kind of site, I'll go there.
9. The current Terms of Service have precedence over previous versions and replace them. Sites found to be violation of the current Terms of Service will be warned and have their account suspended. Without compliance within a reasonable time, accounts will be deleted.
10. I understand that my banner file must be a .gif file (468 x 60 pixels) with a size of less than 12 kB. It may be animated.
11. I understand that account activation may take several days.
12. I understand that I gain 1/2 a credit each time a CCBN member banner is displayed on my site. And that my banner is displayed on another member's web site each time I gain ONE full credit. When a member site's banner cannot be displayed, I understand that a banner promoting CCBN or one of our paid sponsors will display.
13. I cannot artificially inflate my banner hits by any manual, artificial or mechanical means which includes but is not limited to: excessive repeated visits, having my banner on an automatically reloading page, having my banner on a chat page that needs to be reloaded in order to update the session, in a banner reloading java or javascript applet. Our software tracks this, and violation will result in ...you guessed it... account termination.
14. I understand that basic membership in CCBN is FREE and supported by sponsors. At any given time, the banner on a member's web site may contain an advertisement from a sponsor, from another member, or from CCBN.
15. CCBN will not accept any advertisement from entities whose product or advertisement are not suitable for Christians and families.
16. I understand that paid sponsorships are available.
17. I understand that I can participate in other banner exchange programs.
18. I understand that I can have up to two (2) CCBN banners on each of my pages. (top & bottom, top and top, bottom and bottom, middle and bottom.)
19. I can modify the banner code to have no border on the banner, but I must have at least one of the following on all banners displayed: (1) The CCBN 40x40 logo and/or (2) The Canadian Christian Banner Network link subtitle. Hey, we need to promote the Network, and that means YOUR message will eventually end up on more sites, right?
20. I understand that I may view account statistics and modify my account information at http://www.chazm.com/ccbn I realize that an administrator has to approve every change and that when I make a change my banner is automatically removed from the banner pool until it is approved again. Therefore, I won't hit the "Modify account" button too many times.
21. I understand that I can cancel my account by updating / deleting my profile by logging in to my account at: http://www.chazm.com/ccbn.
22. I understand that this service may be cancelled or closed at any time if the service is abused. CCBN cannot be held liable for any loss which results from the closing of the CCBN service.
23. I agree to utilize the services of CCBN at my own risk. CCBN and its sponsors cannot be held liable for any damage or loss of information that may occur from the use of CCBN services. In the case of file corruption, where some or all of my account data is lost, I agree to hold CCBN harmless.
24. CCBN does not make any guarantees regarding the dependability, accuracy, or timeliness of services.
25. CCBN retains ownership and all rights to the CCBN name, logo, software, databases, reports, web site, and information.
26. I agree to be on a CCBN email list. I understand that Iwill receive periodical email messages to keep me informed of CCBN developments.
27. I proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
